After the deal between Los Angeles and Tampa Bay another trade went down this time it was Minnesota and Arizona as dance partners. Chuck Fletcher of the Wild organization managed to work out what could be considered as something of a blockbuster with Coyotes you General Manager John Chayka.
The deal sent forwards Martin Hanzal and Ryan White to Minnesota along with the 4th round pick to this years upcoming draft. While in return the Coyotes acquired a series of draft picks for the next three cycles (1st round pick for 2017, 2nd round pick of 2018, and a conditional 4th round pick to 2019).
This move was clear that the Minnesota Wild organization is going all in this year to go after the Stanley Cup. On the flip side Arizona is second to dead last in the Western Conference. This move for them signals a rebuild.
Martin Hanzal’s move over to the Wild is a rental move just like Ben Bishop and Peter Budaj who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the end of the 2016-2017 season. The same goes for Ryan White as well as he will also become available this offseason.
The former Arizona Coyotes Alternate Captain Martin Hanzal recorded 16 goals and 10 assists during his 51 games with his old hockey club. His career with the Coyotes organization was 608 games and tallied 313 points.
For forward Ryan White he managed to dress in 46 games with Arizona and collected 7 goals and recorded 6 assists and taking with him to Minnesota 70 PIM’s.
As for the former Minnesota Wild product Grayson Downing he spent the season down in the American Hockey League with Iowa. During his time down on the farm Downing suited up in 46 games and collected 14 assists as well as recording 7 goals.
