On the eve of Trade Deadline day the San Jose Sharks have acquired veteran forward Jannik Hansen in exchange for young forward Nikolay Goldobin.
The veteran Hansen in his career has 565 games to his credit all with the Canucks. While with the Canucks Jannik has tallied 105 goals and 235 points since the 2007-08 season.
“Jannik is a versatile, gritty player who plays with speed and is talented on sides of the puck. We think he is a perfect fit for the style of our team, which has earned the right for us to make this moveand addto our NHL roster as we push towards the playoffs.” Per CSN Bay Area/ California
At 21 years of age Goldbin skated in 46 games this season in the American Hockey League with Sharks affiliate the San Jose Barracuda. During that span, he recorded 15 goals and 41 points.
“Nikolay is a gifted offensive player with good hands and good release on his shot,” said Canucks general manager Jim Benning. “His play away from the puck has improved this year in the American League and we believe with his skillset and continued development, he has the ability to become a valuable member of our team.”Per TSN.Ca

The deal also includes a conditional 2017 fourth-round pick heading to Vancouver. According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, the conditional fourth-round pick would become a first-round pick if the Sharks win the Stanley Cup.
