According to the league top’s content official Steve Mayer reported to Yahoo Sports Josh Cooper that indeed the NHL will be broadcasting the 2017 Expansion Draft for the 31st team in Vegas Golden Knights.
This momentous event is scheduled to proceed when the league hosts its annual awards ceremony in Las Vegas per Josh Cooper.
The interesting thing about this story is what happened earlier today when ESPN/TSN’s Pierre LeBrun made mentioned that league would not provide full disclosure of the team’s official list of protected players.
Per league orders that every team must have by the 5:00 P.M. deadline on June 17th their final final list of who they have officially classified as protected players.
Three days later on the 21st the expansion draft will commence with the selection of players to be moved over to the Vegas Golden Knights.
By going into this direction with televising the expansion draft the league is recognizing the benefits of such an event with the fans especially during the NHL Awards festivities. The specifics on the other hand will have to be worked out.
With this approach going forward could be something that the league can cash in on from both a broadcasting point of view as well as business standpoint.
