The 2017-2018 NHL Season salary cap could increase to $76 million according to Deputy Commissioner Bill Daley when he informed the members of the media today at the General Managers Meetings in Boca Raton, Florida.

This increase comes with catch in that it needs to be presented to the NHLPA for approval due to the five percent hike. Also the apparent deal killer of escrow could play a factor when the players review the proposal increase, this is something that is some concern with the members.

On the flip-side of the equation if the NHLPA does indeed reject the proposed increase in the salary cap ceiling, the rate will stay the same at $73 million which will make it stagnant.
