Today Vegas Golden Knights forward Vadim Shipachyov of Team Russia took on Team Slovakia. In his last three games in the 2017 IIHF World Championship tournament, Shipachyov has been getting it done for his team with 2 goals and 5 assists before his game against the Slovaks.

The Russia playmaker had 4 power play assists against the Italians a few games ago. He added 2 goals vs. the Germans earlier this week while one of those were on the power play that was assisted by Nikita Gusev and Artemi Panarin.

His points-scoring streak continued vs. Team Demark this past Thursday when he registered another assist on Gusev’s 2nd-period goal.

In his 5th game of the tournament Team Russia went to work very early when Shipachyov and Gusev helped setup Evgeni Dadonov off the rush to take a 1 goal lead at the 1:12 mark of the opening period.

Later it in the period Team Russia was on the power play and it was Shipachyov and Gusev once again teamed up this time it was down low behind the icing line who connected with Dadonov in the slot and scored his 2nd goal of the game.

This was the 5th time in the tournament that Shipachyov and Dadonov connected on a goal for Team Russia. It’s highly rumored by several sources the Dadonov will most likely sign with Vegas to play along side with his former SKA St. Petersburg teammate.

Shipachyov’s 2nd assist of the game moved him into sole possession of the 2nd spot in points in the tournament with 9 behind Russian teammate Panarin who has 10 points. Panarin did not play into todays game due to minor injury and is listed as day-2-day.

After Shipachyov’s 2nd assist of the game Team Russia would added three more goals from Andrei Mironov, Nikita Kucherov, and Ivan Telegin before getting his third point. Mironov recently signed with the Colorado Avalanche.

In games final period Shipachyov added another assist that was helped out by fellow linemate Dadonov as the two setup Vladislav Gavirkov for a dirty goal and gave Russia the 6-0 lead. Shipachyov’s 3rd assist moved him up the ladder once again this time with a tie for top spot in the scoring department with Panarin at 10 points each.

Shipachyov played an impressive game overall as he was very active in key situations both on 5v5 play and special teams. He had 2 SOG’s and was +2 on the night with a TOI of 17:36.

Team Russia after their matchup against Team Slovakia moves them back into first place in Group with 14 points at a 4-1-0-0 record.  Their next game is on Monday when they take on Team Latvia.

Russia leads the tournament is the scoring department thru 5 games with a +21 in goal differential with 26 GF vs. 5 GA.
