Las Vegas–Weeks ago I did a piece on Nate Schmidt in terms of how much leverage he has heading into arbitration for a new contract for the 2017-18 hockey season with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Well it appears that Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee does have some kind of offer on the table for Schmidt in terms of a 2-year deal award for the blueliner.
For Schmidt he recently completed his 2-year deal that he had with the Washington Capitals that had a total $1,625,000 over that span.
As veteran hockey insider Elliotte Friedman states, Schmidt is looking for a 1-year deal at $2.75 million.
The good thing is for both the Golden Knights and Schmidt they still have time to work out a deal before his case is heard before an arbitrator that is scheduled to take place on August 3.
In 60 games played with the Capitals last season, Schmidt recorded 3 goals, 14 assists for 17 points. He was also a plus 22.
