Las Vegas–With the franchises 1st ever NHL training camp coming to an end, I had the chance to speak with Golden Knights forward Oscar Lindberg to get his take on how preseason and camp has been going for him.
Prior to joining the Golden Knights via the Vegas Draft, Lindberg recently participated in the 2017 IIHF World Championship Tournament in Paris, France and Cologne, Germany for Team Sweden.
In that tournament, Lindberg skated in 5 contest’s and tallied 2 assists. After the completion of the tournament, Lindberg won the gold medal over Team Canada in a 2-1 victory.
During the Vegas Draft the former New York Rangers forward Lindberg was selected in the 3rd round at 22nd overall.
For Lindberg, this is his 2nd NHL team that he has played with over the course of the professional playing career in North America since being selected in the 2010 draft by the then-Phoenix Coyotes in the 2nd round at 57th overall.
Lindberg talked about how his Golden Knights training camp and preseason has been progressing since coming via the Vegas Draft.
“It’s been a lot of days now, some good practices, some good off ice things too, I’m feeling good.” Said Lindberg.
The Swedish forward touched on how the transition has been for him coming from New York to Vegas.
“I mean obviously a little different, I think everything been going smooth and I’m happy so far.” Says Lindberg.
In preseason action with the Golden Knights, Lindberg has recorded 1 goal in 3 games played. His 1st goal of the preseason came in their 4-1 victory over Colorado in Denver.
For Vegas, the playing a full 60 minutes has been a bit challenging for the NHL’s youngest and Lindberg made mentioned of what the team needs to do in order for them to accomplish that.
“I think we need to start playing a full 60 game, not just a small time during the game, play well, keep playing for 60 minutes and playing good defensively.” Mentioned Lindberg
In terms of Tomas Hyka who’s been impressing throughout training camp and preseason, Lindberg has been impressed with what he has seen in the Czech forward. Hyka is the team’s leader in goals with 4.
“He’s been looking really good, I mean he’s skating well good with the puck and goes in the dirty areas too so he’s been successful.” Lindberg on Hyka.
