Las Vegas–Tonight the Vegas Golden Knights hosted the San Jose Sharks at T-Mobile to cap off their preseason.

The last time these two teams met was back in the Bay Area where the Sharks defeated the Golden Knights by a 5-2 final.

In the opening period of the game, the Golden Knights struck 1st when forward Erik Haula went into San Jose end on a breakaway opportunity and beat starting netminder Aaron Dell 5-hole to give Vegas the early 1 goal lead at 8:08 of the 1st.

Later in the 1st period, San Jose put themselves on the board when 25-year-old Marcus Sorensen tied the game up at 1 for the Sharks while on the penalty kill.

Sorensen outskated Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore in the neutral to score the 1st ever shorthanded marker against Vegas in preseason action.

During the middle frame, San Jose continued where they left off at in the scoring department when defenseman Dylan DeMelo played a game of tip the puck in with Sharks forward Chris Tierney.

Tierney’s tip-in fooled Fleury and gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead at the 4:28 mark of the 2nd on the power play.

Roughly 4 minutes plus after Tierney scored the go-ahead goal in the middle frame Barclay Goodrow extended San Jose lead to 3-1 as he went up-stairs on Fleury at the 8:38 mark of the 2nd.

Before the 11 mark of the 2nd period Golden Knights forward David Perron brought the game within 1 as he fired a long wrister from the point to beat Sharks goalie Dell to bring the score of the game 3-2.

At 15:06 of the second, the Golden Knights struck again to tie the game up at 3 when defenseman Colin Miller fired a one-timer off of forward Cody Eakin‘s feed to beat new Sharks goaltender Troy Grosenick.

It was reported in the building that Miller’s one-timer goal was clocked at 105 mph.

In the final period of the game, it was all San Jose as they scored two more goals.

Sharks Nick DeSimone put San Jose up 4-3 when cashed in off of a rebound from Fleury and scored their 2nd power-play goal of the game.

Veteran forward Joel Ward sealed the deal for the Sharks on an empty net marker to give the Sharks the 5-3 victory and the preseason series sweep over Vegas and outscored the Golden Knights 10-5 in those two contests.

The Vegas Golden Knights completed the preseason with a 3-3-1 record.

They open their regular season campaign later this week when head on the road to “The Big D” to take on the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center on Friday, October 6.
