Las Vegas–A few weeks ago the talk about current Vegas Golden Knights forward Vadim Shipachyov wasn’t happy with the situation that was in with the franchise seem to be a rumor of sorts, well today that is not the case as organization greenlit the Russian playmaker to seek a trade.

Hockey Insider’s Elliotte Friedman and Darren Dreger reported the news on their Twitter Accounts earlier today.

Shipachyov signed a 2-year $9 million deal with the Golden Knights before the 2017 IIHF Worlds Champion has not been getting much playing time with the club as he was sent down to the Chicago Wolves twice this regular season.

In his first time being sent down to the AHL, he did not play a single game during his short time down in Chicago. He did not even practice with the club while he was on his assignment with the Wolves as he was in Las Vegas with his wife and training on his own.

He suited up for the Golden Knights for 3 games where he recorded just 1 goal over the span. The goal he scored was in high NHL debut against the Boston Bruins in their 3-1 win.

When forward Jonathan Marchessault was activated off of the IR ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks game, the organization sent back down to the Wolves for the second time of the season forward Shipachyov.

For the Golden Knights, their depth at the forward position has caused Shipachyov to be the odd man odd and with the team having some early season success with a 7-1-0 record it could that the Russian playmaker might not even get another chance of playing with the Vegas.

The thing that George McPhee has to look at here is who could the potential trades partners that he could dance with that would make a Shipachyov trade possible. Another thing to consider what would want back on the return end.

Right now McPhee has nearly 30 pick selections in his back pocket from the 2018 thru 2020 NHL Entry Draft classes.

With the team that would trade for him, would McPhee be asked to retain a portion of Shipachyov’s contract for at least year.

For Shipachyov’s agent given the okay by the Golden Knights to see if there could any potential suitors for the Russian playmaker.
