Summerlin– The stands were packed tonight as the Skatin’ Rebels took the ice at home for the first time in 3 weeks.
Jamestown was a lot more physical than the Rebels. They outhit them by a solid margin in the first period. Scoring chances heavily favored the Rebels although the shot total was higher for Jamestown. Forward Barriga scored the only goal for the Rebels. Each team committed penalties so it was an aggressive period.
The second period saw the Rebels take a 2-goal lead as they turned the physicality around and stopped being pushed around. A mid-period flurry by Jamestown tied the game at 2 a piece, setting the stage for an exciting third period. Goal was made by Forward Kaszupski.
The Rebels were able to jump out to a 4-2 lead due to clean play staying out of the penalty box. Jamestown was able to quickly get back on the board to make things interesting at 4-3 midway through the third. The physical play continued as a few minor fights began to break out as the game winded down.
With less than 2 minutes remaining down by 1, Jamestown pulled their goalie which led to an empty netter for the Rebels, sealing the 5-3 win.
#21 for Jamestown was ejected with 17 seconds left to play. Goals were made by Forwards Barriga, Fink, and Lawson.
The Skatin’ Rebels are home 11/10 and 11/11 against #1 Minot State at 7:30 pm @ City National Arena
