Las Vegas–Today the Vegas Golden Knights after returning from their 2-game Western Canada road swing they have activated backup goaltender Malcolm Subban off of IR.
Since Subban was on IR, the Golden Knights have relied on a two-goalie rotation between Oscar Dansk and Maxime Lagace with the exception of Dylan Ferguson who came in for a brief relief stint against the Edmonton Oilers.
Dansk record during the absence of Subban was 3-0-0 with a GAA of 1.78 and a .946 save percentage and Lagace posted a 3-5-0-1 record and his GAA was 3.87 and registered a .864.
Ferguson his in short relief the other night vs. Edmonton, recorded 1 save and gave his 1st NHL goal to Mark Letestu in 9:14 of playing time between the pipes for the Golden Knights.
Now that Subban has been activated off of IR, they have sent back to the Kamloops Blazers who has been serving as Lagace’s backup since Dansk went down on their Eastern Conference road trip.
For Subban, he has missed a total of 11 games since being placed on the IR on October 22. Before that, he recorded 2-0-0 record with a 2.06 GAA and a .936 save percentage.
His best outing before he was hit the injury bug was the game against the St. Louis Blues where he made 37 saves of 38 shots he faced with a .974 save percentage and a GAA of 1.00 with 50:50 TOI.
One of his victories in net for the Golden Knights came when he faced the team that drafted the Boston Bruins. Vegas defeated the Bruins that day to a 3-1 victory.
Subban was claimed by the Golden Knights from the Boston Bruins organization back on October 3.
This has been an interesting start of the season Golden Knights with have 5 goalies on their roster to get them thru 18 games played. Vegas current sits in 2nd place in the Pacific Division, 1 point behind the Los Angeles Kings in the standings with 23 points.
Marc-André Fleury continues to be on the IR with his upper body injury. No official word of when he will be activated off of IR.
Having Subban activated off of IR is an important roster move for the Golden Knights as they face off against the Los Angeles Kings this Sunday at T-Mobile Arena.
