Las Vegas–Tonight before the Vegas Golden Knights scheduled bye week they took on the New York Rangers for the 2nd time this season and 1st meeting at T-Mobile Arena.

The last time these two teams faced one other, was when the Golden Knights embarked on their first ever Eastern Conference road trip in franchise history. With their first time at Madison Square Garden, the Golden Knights lost to the Blueshirts by a 6-4 final and they eventually completed that trip with a 1-4-1 record.

At 13:05 of the opening period, the Rangers put themselves on the board first by a goal from Mika Zibanejad where he would beat Marc-André Fleury off the rush.

Later in the 1st, the Golden Knights would tie the game up and it was James Neal getting it done. After a 7 game streak where he did not find the back of the net, Neal cashed in from a chip pass by David Perron for his 18th of season against Ondrej Pavelec.

At 8:58 of the 3rd period, the Golden Knights took the lead when William Karlsson connected off of cross feed pass from Reilly Smith for his 22nd of the season.

The initial play was started by defenseman Deryk Engelland who sent the puck up the ice to Jonathan Marchessault. Marchessault found Smith coming down the left side who ended sending over the pass to Karlsson as he one timed it past Pavelec for a 2-1 Golden Knights lead.

Karlsson 3rd period goal would be the winner as the Golden Knights defeated the New York Rangers by a 2-1 final and earned season series split against the original franchise this season in front of a record breaking crowd of 18,234 at T-Mobile Arena tonight.

The Golden Knights would improve to 29-10-2 for 60 points in the overall standings behind the Tampa Bay Lightning as they hit the bye week. They would also improve to 18-2-1 at home this season.

For Fleury, with his 28 save night against the Rangers, he would improve to 31-18-9 lifetime against the Blueshirts.
