Las Vegas–As the team gets ready to face off against the Predators in Nashville, the Golden Knights along with General Manager George McPhee have extended defenseman Jon Merrill for two more years.

Merril becomes the fourth Golden Knights players along with defenseman Brayden McNabb, Jonathan Marchessault, and Deryk Engelland to receive contract extensions since the season has commenced.

With Merrill being locked up for another two years with the Golden Knights his new deal extends him thru the 2019-20 season and is worth an annual average value of $1.375 million.

His total two year deal with Vegas is recorded at $2,275,000 over the term.

Among the current blueliners with the Golden Knights, Luca Sbisa and Clayton Stoner remain is the two remaining UFA defenseman yet to receive a contract extensions.

With Sbisa being out of commission for 6 to 8 weeks recovering from a hand injury and Stoner out for the season nursing an abdominal injury, it’s unclear if those two will sign on after the season is with their current deals up before the July 1.

This is the third contract that Merrill has signed since playing the National Hockey League. His two prior deals were with New Jersey with the second one being a contract extension.
