UNLV beat ASU in First Home Game of the Year
Summerlin– Fans packed the stands of “City National Arena” as they eagerly waited for the Rebels to take the ice for the first time since November.
Having played the Sun Devils before, the Skatin Rebels came onto the ice ready to win! ASU ran an umbrella power play but the Rebels killed it off. It was a close game through the first period but the Rebels brought the energy and the points.
The first goal was scored by forward Viktor Brask and the second goal was scored by Forward Joe Kaszupski. Rebels take an 2-0 lead going into the second and the momentum.
4 on 4 hockey into the second period as Forward Kaszupski got sent to the box for cross checking and #20 from ASU got sent for roughing. Kaszupski scores a power play goal for the Rebels, his second of the night. Captain Kearley scored a power play goal at the end of the second period, making the score 4-1 in favor of the Rebels.
The Skatin Rebels get 5 minutes of power play while a member of the ASU team serves in the box and another player gets ejected.
In the first 2 minutes of the third, Kearley scored on the Sun Devil’s goalie. The intensity was at an all time high as the boys battled it out up and down the ice. Forward Zach Lawson scored the 6th goal for the Rebels. Sheldon Brett scored his first goal of the game, putting the Rebels up 7-2.
Things got a little chippy halfway through the third period as multiple fights broke out and players kept getting ejected from both teams. During all of the madness, Jake Saxe was able to score the Rebels 8th goal of the game.
