Las Vegas–Tonight the final game in Quad City Mallards history came as they faced off against the Cincinnati Cyclones for the last time ever at TaxSlayer Center.

A month ago Team Owner Jordan Melville announced that the franchise would be closing its door after the completion of their current campaign due to the organization could no longer support its operations from a financial standpoint.

It’s never easy for a fanbase to watch their team play its final game in franchise history but the Mallards came out flying in the opening period of the contest against the Cyclones at TaxSlayer Center.

They applied the pressure early and often against the Cyclones in the 1st period of play.

It took 4 power play opportunities in the 1st period for Quad City vs. Cincinnati to finally solve Cyclones goaltender Joseph Raaymakers.

With 5 minutes to go in the 1st period, the Mallards would get on the board with a power play marker from Willie Raskob as he netted his third of the season with assists from Chris Izmirlian and Matt Pohlkamp.

At the end of the opening period, the Mallards threw 23 total shots on net against the Cyclones as Quad City took with them into the 1st intermission a 1-0 lead.

Their 23 shots on net in the 1st period was a new season high for the Mallards.

7:13 into the middle frame, the Cyclones would get the equalizer goal on the Mallards after both teams failed to convert on their respective power plays.

Cincinnati’s Myles Powell ended C.J. Motte‘s shutout bid as he got help from Alex Kile and Michael Prapavessis.

At the 11:39 mark, Quentin Shore put the Mallards back on top as he the took one upstairs on Raaymakers for a 2-1 lead. He was helped by Matt Pohlkamp and Raskob. Raskob earned his 2nd point of the contest.

However the Mallards lead was shortly lived as Brandon McNally of Cincinnati beat Motte that tied the contest back up at 2-2 with 6:06 remaining of the 2nd. McNally earned his 16th goal on that scoring play with assists from Eric Knodel and Mike Barrett.

With 3:24 to go in the second period, the Cyclones would get their first lead on the Mallards as Dominic Zombo from close range as he put the puck past Motte who had no chance at stopping that brought it to a 3-2 game. Zombo earned his 3rd goal of the season with the lone assist from Anthony Florentino.

58 seconds into the 3rd period of the contest the Mallards tied the game as Stanislav Dzakhov took it upstairs on Raaymakers for his 2nd goal of the year. He was helped by Alexander Kuqali with the lone assist on Dzakov’s goal.
