Las Vegas–Finally for the Vegas Golden Knights will have an opponent in the Stanley Cup Finals, the Washington Capitals.

The Golden Knights punched their ticket the Stanley Cup Final this past Sunday when they defeated the Winnipeg Jets in game 5 by a 2-1 score.

Winnipeg native Ryan Reaves scored the goal that sent Vegas to the finals in front of family and friends at Bell MTS Place.

So the Golden Knights who were patiently waiting until it was official after game 7 of the East Final that they will open up the Stanley Cup Final against the Washington Capitals this coming Monday at T-Mobile Arena.

Alex Ovechkin who was always been under the shadow of Sydney Crosby (3-time Stanley Cup Champion 2009, 2016, and 2017) in the Eastern Conference when it comes to playoff success.

For the first time in 13 season his career finally can have his name scratched off a list of players to who never been to the Stanley Cup Finals.

In recent years, it was San Jose Sharks forwards Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton who did the same for their long careers in the league.

Ovechkin like Reaves, scored the series clincher as the Capitals defeated Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning by a 4-0.

In the regular season series, the Golden Knights are 2-0-0 against the Capitals.
