Las Vegas–As the summer hiatus continues for the Vegas Golden Knights as the business side never stops as they have signed forward Stefan Matteau.

The organization announced that forward Matteau has inked a new 1-year deal with the franchise ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Matteau spent the most part of the last season down in the minors with their AHL affiliate in Chicago. During his time with the Wolves, Matteau skated in 60 games where he recorded 15 goals, 12 assists for 27 points.

During his callup(s) with the Golden Knights, Matteau skated in 8 total games this season and tallied a single assist vs. Minnesota back on November 30, 2017.

His new contract going forward has an AAV of $650,000 for the 2018-19 season should he make the roster.

This marks the second contract that he has signed with the organization, his first was back on July 1, 2017.

Originally selected by the New Jersey Devils in the first round at 29th overall from the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Matteau currently has 64 games of NHL experience under his belt that consists of 3 goals, 4 assists for 7 points and is a -14 with 27 PIM (penalty minutes).

For Matteau its going to be interesting where exactly he will fall into with the overall depth of the organization but one thing is for certain he’ll most likely be invited to participate in the upcoming training camp to try an impress George McPhee and staff.
