Las Vegas–Tonight, Vegas Golden Knights Head Coach Gerard Gallant captured the 2018 Jack Adams Award.
Golden Knights Head Coach Gallant that won it was in good company tonight for the Jack Adams, Bruce Cassidy of the Boston Bruins, and Colorado Avalanche’s Jared Bednar were the other two finalists for the award.
This first season with the Golden Knights, Gallant has relished in the success as the team posted an impressive 51-24-7 for 109 points which has never been accomplished before by any previous NHL expansion team in the leagues 100 year’s history.
Gallant becomes the first Golden Knights Head Coach in team history to win the Jack Adams Trophy.
For Gallant this was the 2nd time in his coaching career to receive the nomination.
His leadership behind the Golden Knights bench led the franchise to their first ever Pacific Division Crown, the Western Conference Championship, and first trip to the Stanley Cup Final.
Other highlights under Gallant’s leadership in the Golden Knights inaugural season, featured the team getting off to an 8-1-0 start, handling their goaltending carousel situation that featured the use of 4 goalies (including a 19-year old), to recording their 34th win in club history with 32 games to go.
In addition, the team he coached this year had 11 players that had career highs in point production.
