Las Vegas–With the Golden Knights missing out in the Ilya Kovalchuk sweepstakes, they now shift to other options in John Tavares.

With Tavares, he communicated with the New York Islanders that he has elected to speak to five teams when the interview window is set open up on Sunday.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post was the first to report the news after it broke.

Not long after Brooksie reported the news, TSN Resident Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun confirmed that Tavares agent Pat Brisson stated his client will the in fact use the UFA speaking period with those five teams that are in the mix.

Among the five teams that are going to speak to Tavares this coming week is indeed the Vegas Golden Knights per David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.

Right now, according to Capfriendly.com, the Golden Knights have nearly $31 million to spend.
