Las Vegas–Starting tomorrow, the Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks will be meeting with John Tavares and his agent in Los Angeles.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period confirmed the news on his Twitter page earlier this morning.

As Pagnotta reports, the New York Islanders already have put an offer on the table for Tavares if he wants to stay on Long Island and play under new bench boss Barry Trotz.

Meeting with Tavares tomorrow could potentially be the starting point that the Golden Knights could be moving away from wingers James Neal and David Perron.

It was brought to our attention yesterday by Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee on NHL Network after day of the 2018 NHL Draft that he has tendered offers to both Neal and Perron who are UFA’s come July 1.

However, he did follow up with his statement to mention that both players have yet to accept their new Golden Knights contracts.

According to the Capfriendly.com, the Golden Knights have $30,975,000 to spend on contracts for the 20181-19 season. For the Sharks, they have far less to spend at $18,842,916 per Capfriendly.com.

With San Jose, they have continued to shed cap space as they have recently bought out veteran defenseman Paul Martin‘s remaining two years of his $19.4 million contract he signed with the Sharks back on July 1, 2015.

One thing that Pagnotta make mention of is that for the Sharks have every intention in bringing back 38-year old Joe Thornton.

Buckle up Golden Knights fans this week could be a roller coaster as the courting for the Tavares kicks off tomorrow.

Update 9:00 pm

According to Isles writer from The Athletic NYC Arthur Staple said that the Golden Knights are not on the finalized list of teams that Tavares will be meeting with at least for now.
